In Focus: St. Ann Kite Festival

The St. Ann Kite Festival is indeed a kite flying event with kite flying competitions. It is also a classical Jamaican family fun day with fun for kids and contests for adults during the day. Day activities include a Kite competition, a dancing competition and a bun eating competition! The early evening entertainment comes in the form of a reggae stage show, just how we like it. And there’s food of course.

On Easter monday, a public holiday in Jamaica. Easter monday 2016 is march 28. The 2016 edition will be the 13th staging of the festival.  The doors open at 10 am and the stage show starts at 5pm. You should be there all day, it's great.

This year there's a gospel segment, a 90's style segment and a reggae segment. Looks promising! The 90's segment features living reggae legends like Tanto Metro & Devonte, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Louie Culture, Little John, Terror Fabulous and Frisco Kid. The reggae segment features the likes of Freddie Mcgregor, Cocoa Tea, Jahmiel, Pressure, Richie Spice, Devin Di Dakta, Loyal Flames, Vershon, Anthony B, I-octance, Beenie Man and Romain Virgo.

The venue is Shazz entertainment center, behind the Shazz Gas Station, Richmond Estate, Priory, St. Ann parish. That’s the same estate Rebel Salute is held.
